Jess (Zooey Deschanel) meets a very naughty Santa Claus in the New Girl Christmas episode “LAXmas.” Even more shocking, Santa is portrayed by Dennis Haskins, who played the equally beloved character Mr. Belding on Saved by the Bell.
Jess encounters an elderly man resembling Santa in a lounge at Los Angeles International Airport. She naively believes him when he confirms his identity. Jess confides in him about her feelings of inadequacy towards her rich boyfriend. Fortunately, Santa’s sack has just the thing to cheer up this little girl. He suggests that Jess sit on Santa’s lap for a sleigh ride she’ll never forget. Jess continues to refer to the dirty old man as Santa even after he breaks character. It wouldn’t be surprising if she sets up Santa traps next Xmas.
